The 900-year-old Norwich Castle is just one example of the awe-inspiring Norman architecture that Norwich has to offer. Originally built as a palace for King William II, Norwich Castle is now home to both a museum and an art gallery, providing an educational experience for all the family. During your visit you will learn all about the castle’s history, and be able to view some of the ever-changing art exhibitions on display. There’s also a cafe on site selling drinks and snacks.

Another excellent example of Norwich’s Norman architecture, Norwich Cathedral has one of the tallest spires in the United Kingdom, standing at 96 metres. During nesting season, the spire is home to a pair of peregrine falcons! The cathedral opens its doors to everyone, regardless of their faith, to learn, worship and experience the art and architecture. If you would like to discover the cathedral’s fascinating history, guided tours are available from Monday to Saturday. You can also explore the beautiful grounds, including a herb garden, and enjoy refreshments in the Refectory cafe.
